Madelaine G. Smith

Madelaine G. Smith, 90, of 7 Riverwoods Drive in Exeter died suddenly on February 21, 2002 at Exeter Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born on May 4, 1911 in Boston, MA the daughter of the late William and Florence (Walcott) Goodhue. She was raised in Winchester, MA and attended the local high school. She graduated from Radcliffe in Cambridge with a degree in Social Work. Madelaine and her husband moved to Washington, DC and then to Pennsylvania where she worked as the Director of Social Services for Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA and for Devon Manor Nursing Home in Devon, PA for 30 years. Family members include; one son, Utley W. Smith Jr., of Windham, NH; one daughter, Janet Smith of Florence, Italy; two grandchildren, Erik W. Smith of Lansing, Michigan and Kristhyra Fairbanks of Milford, NH. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband, Utley W. Smith Sr. in March of 1995.
