Madeleine “Maddy” Dunn, a lifelong resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 13th at her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on April 22, 1938 to Blanche and Napoleon Guillemette, Maddy was the youngest girl of nine siblings, growing up with Rita, Doris, Lucille, Bob, Roger, Pauline, Richard, and Ronnie. She had a childhood filled with love, humor, and unbreakable family bonds.
As a hard-working, single mother, Maddy was a force of nature. She raised her daughters with strength and love. Her adventurous spirit took her on escapades with the “Travelling Trollops”, a group that included Cindy and Lisa, as well as her niece, Kathi Doucet, who often accompanied them. Her favorite place she traveled when asked was Croatia, which she visited several times. She collected memories in a number of different countries with her friends and family that will be re-told for years.
Maddy lived with her oldest daughter, Cindy Breton, and next door to her youngest daughter, Lisa Breton. She loved and embraced Lisa’s husband Phil Gagnon and the love of Cindy’s life, Cliff Wilson Jr.
In her most cherished role as Memere or Memski, Maddy had amazing relationships with each of her three grandsons, Savian Breton, Bretton Gagnon, and Mitchell Gagnon. Their partners, Amanda Henigan, Kelsey Koloski, and Lydia Spiers were embraced by Maddy as if they were her own granddaughters. Maddy is the adored matriarch of a loving family that extended to include nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Maddy’s 60+ year career as a waitress in various Manchester restaurants made her a local legend. Her warmth, humor, and positivity was enjoyed by all who crossed her path.
She was especially proud of the fact that she was hired at the age of 70 at the Puritan Backroom where she continued to work until she was 83. She loved her Puritan family and customers very much.
