Today, we gather to honor the life of the remarkable, Manju Bista KC. Manju was more than just a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator; she was a beacon of love and a pillar of strength not only in her family but in her community as well. She peacefully left us on June 18, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 75. Born on October 10, 1948, to Maj. Dor Bahadur Bista and Rajkumari Bista, Manju grew up with a profound respect for knowledge and a dedication to service. Her parents, who preceded her in death, undoubtedly influenced her lifelong commitment to education. Manju earned BA and BEd. from Tribhuwan University, and went on to become a respected educator and High School Principal at Mahendra Bhrikuti School in Jawalakhel, Kathmandu.Manju's legacy is deeply embedded in the lives she touched and the hearts she warmed. She was wife to Chhetra Bickram KC, a mother to sons Sampurna KC and Sagun KC and her daughter, Dr. Kanchan KC-Thapa, and grandmom to Simrik Thapa. She was the mother in law to Ms. Gayatri Baniya-KC and Dr. Rajkumar Thapa.
Manju was predeceased by her uncles, Bhairav Bahadur Bista and Baañi Bahadur Bista, and siblings, Menu Rayamajhi, Mohan Devi Mudvari, Madhav Bahadur Bista, and Manababa Rayamajhi. She is survived by her brother, Mukunda Bahadur Bista. She was also a beloved aunt, whose presence brought joy and comfort to her nieces and nephews. Outside of her professional life, Manju also found joy in music, art, gardening, cooking, and watching tele-serials. Her warmth and generosity were felt by everyone around her, and her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. As we bid farewell to Manju, we remember her service to education and her community. In Manju's memory, a Hindu ceremony will be held at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family kindly requests charitable donations to be made to the “KC Bista Family” or directly to Teach for Nepal. https://www.teachfornepal.org/tfn/how-can-i-help/
May she rest in peace in heaven.
