Manuel Lewis Medeiros Jr., 93, of Whitefield, NH died Sunday December 17, 2006 at home in Whitefield. Born on October 12, 1913 in Cambridge, MA the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Silva) Medeiros. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and Arlington, MA. For over 35 years he worked at American Sugar Company in Charlestown, MA. During World War II he served in the US Marine Corp. In 1979 he retired and moved from So. Weymouth, MA to Whitefield, NH. He enjoyed mountain climbing with his brothers and climbed throughout the presidential range. He also ran in many road races and marathons. He ran the 2nd Mount Washington Road Race. Among his passions was music and he enjoyed playing piano, which he was still doing. Mr. Medeiros also loved spending time with his family and loved his dog daisy. He also enjoyed being out in the yard. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle (Burrill) Mederios of Whitefield; his children,, Manuel Walter Medeiros and his wife Carol of Canaan, NH, Teresa Gauld and her husband Richard of So. Yarmouth, MA, Joyce Ditoro and her husband Michael of Weston, MA and Brian Medieros and his wife Kim of Michigan; 2 sisters, Eleanor Tanner of Arlington, MA and Jean Medeiros of Meredith and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Joseph, Anthony and Edward Medeiros. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 1:00PM at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, MA. In lieu of flowers donations in Manuel’s memory can be made to North Country Home Health and Hospice Agency, 536 Cottage St, Littleton, NH 03561 or to the Caleb Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, 38 Kings Square #9, Whitefield, NH 03589. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
