Margaret P. Baker, 85 of 21 Ledges Drive, Laconia, NH died peacefully on December 1, 2000 at Taylor Community in Laconia following an extended illness. She was born Margaret Ruth Powell on June 25, 1915 in Rochester, NY the daughter of the late Richard and Anne (Klein) Powell. She graduated from Wellesley College and Columbia University Graduate School in Economics. She lived in Glen Ridge, NJ until her retirement to California in 1977. She served for many years as the Director for the Retail Labor Standards Association of New York until her retirement. She joined Taylor Community in Laconia in 1995. Family members include; one son Ronald A. Baker, III of Moultonborough, NH; one daughter, Anne B. Marshall of Upper Montclair, NJ; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren in New Hampshire, New Jersey, Connecticut, South Carolina and Utah; and one brother, Richard G. Powell of New York City. Mrs. Baker was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ronald A. Baker, Jr. A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held at the Taylor Community at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2000 with the Rev. Earl Miller, Jr. of the Center Harbor United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA.
