Margaret Blood, died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at the Wentworth Home in Dover, after a long and healthy life of 104 years. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 17, 1903, the daughter of William and Mary Brown. The family moved to Rhode Island in 1908 and then to Rollinsford in 1917. As a young woman, she loved riding her horse, Tess, on the highways and byways of the area, including Mt. Agamenticus. Margaret graduated from Berwick Academy in 1921 and later from McIntosh College in Dover. Following graduation, she worked as a stenographer at the University of New Hampshire. In 1930, Margaret married Paul Blood, a professor in the UNH Agronomy Department. They made their home in Durham and raised three children. Paul died in 1968. She is survived by a son, Richard of Concord, a daughter, Barbara Milburn and husband Henry of Cumberland, Maine, and a son, Alan of Sanford, Maine, as well as grandchildren Jeffrey Milburn and his wife Janice Baserga of Cumberland, Maine, John Milburn of Falmouth, Maine, Jennifer Flaxman and her husband Paul of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Erica Blood of Boston, Massachusetts, Emily Blood of Hanover, and nieces, Ellen Evanoff and Lori Hungerpillar. She will also be missed by great grandchildren Andrew, Trevor, Madeline, Forrest, Emma, and Tilyard. A private burial will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover. Memorial donations may be made to the Wentworth Home, 795 Central Avenue, Dover, NH 03820. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
