For Immediate Release- Obituaries Dover, NH - Margaret Allison Dickson, 98, died Tuesday, December 17, 2002 in the nursing facility at Langdon Place of Dover, NH after a brief illness. Born June 11, 1904 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Smith) Kein. Margaret, after graduating from high school completed a business school degree in Saint John and then became the secretary to the director of the Saint John Adoption Agency. In her own words, Margaret said, “ The best thing I ever did was to marry my husband.” She was married for 58 years to Captain Thomas David Dickson (Newcastle, County Down, North Ireland) whom she met on a church picnic. After their marriage in 1931, the couple moved to the United States and became US Citizens. They were long-term residents of Montclair, NJ before moving to Southbury, CT in 1976. After retiring from the Montclair National Bank and Trust Company she enjoyed working at a local bookshop and later at The Village Card Shop in Southbury. Margaret has been a resident at Langdon Place of Dover for the last nine years. She was a member of First Parish Church Congregational and also an associate member of the International Association of Cape Horners. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; an avid reader; enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends and was loved for her zest for life and contagious laugh. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter Anne Dickson Ernst of Darien, CT, her son David K. Dickson and his wife Diane of Dover, NH, four grandchildren Thomas O. Ernst, Elizabeth A. Ernst, Susan L. Millay, D. Andrew Dickson and great-grandson Justin Thomas Millay and nieces and nephews. Margaret is predeceased by her husband Captain Thomas D. Dickson, three brothers: Fredrick, Harry and John Kein, and two sisters Katherine Garnett and Jane Day and son-in-law Philip E. Ernst. A memorial service has been planned for Saturday, January 4, 2003 at 2:00PM at Langdon Place in Dover, NH. Family flowers only requested, memorial contributions in Margaret’s memory may be made to the First Parish Church Congregational of Dover Building fund or a charity of your choice.
