Margaret Ellen Garrett

Margaret passed away at her home in Brookline, NH on June 11, 2021, at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones who will always cherish and remember her and continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Her love of life did not come to an end with her death.

Margaret was born on November 22, 1957, in Fayetteville, NC, the daughter of the late Floyd and Mary (Skiba) Sparkman. She was the beloved wife of Jerry W. Garrett Jr., with whom she would have celebrated 44 years of marriage this coming December 23.

Margaret graduated from Enterprise High School, Enterprise, Alabama in 1976. She later married Jerry on December 23, 1977. Because of Margaret's strong desire to help and care for those in need she pursued a degree in Nursing. She graduated from El Paso Community College, El Paso, TX with a Nursing degree in 1987. Margaret became the school nurse at the American Elementary School in Katterbach, Germany in 1988, where Jerry was stationed with the Army. After returning from Germany in 1992, Margaret became a Pediatric Oncology nurse for many years in El Paso, TX. She then moved from El Paso to Massachusetts in 1997 where she worked at Lowell General Hospital, Lowell, MA as a Pediatric Nurse until her retirement.

Those who knew Margaret will remember a caring, happy, and fun-loving person who had a wonderful laugh and an unwavering loyalty to her family and loved ones. She was always there for her family. Margaret loved cooking, reading and reviewing books online, writing, listening to music, crocheting, and spending time playing and laughing with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Margaret is survived by her husband Jerry Garrett, daughter Jennifer (Garrett) Lujan and husband Sergio, granddaughters Gillian and Penelope, son Matthew Garrett and wife Karen, grandson Logan and granddaughter Lorelai, son John Garrett and wife Jessica; three brothers, Paul, John and Stacey Sparkman, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

The family would like to give thanks to the wonderful caregivers at the St. Joseph Hospital Cancer Center for the love and compassion they gave Margaret. You have touched our hearts forever.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held with family and close friends at a later date.
