Margaret Claire Jette was born on July 14, 1947 and died of complications from sepsis on January 14, 2026. She was the first child of Hugh Larimer and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Larimer. Her husband of 43 years, Donald died in 2012. She is survived by her brother Hugh Larimer, her daughter Jennifer Edmunds, her son in law Edwin Edmunds, her son Christopher Jette, her daughter in law Rose Jette, her granddaughter Isabelle Edmunds, and her grandson Brett Edmunds, his wife Emma Edmunds and her great grandson Oliver Edmunds.
Margaret grew up in Brooklyn, NY and New Jersey. After high school, she graduated from Massachusetts Bay Junior College in Boston with a Secretorial degree. She met the love of her life, Donald and they married on June 21, 1969. Margaret worked as a legal secretary, and an office manager for Dexter shoe company and Garant Tools. She had twins Jennifer and Christopher in 1972 and became a stay at home Mother for many years. She resided in PA, NH, MI and VA over the years. Margaret was active in the St Jude Parish and a member and secretary of the Women’s guild for 20+ years. She was active in causes such as Londonderry Against Drunk Driving, and later supported Food for the Poor where her husband worked.
Margaret led with her faith in God, attending Catholic mass daily in her later years and also praying on the rosary every day. She will be remembered for her empathy, resilience and patience. She was kind and caring and made strong friendships wherever she lived. She was an excellent hostess, making the holidays special for extended family with decorations, food and activities. She always had a candy dish filled ready for visitors and offered a fresh cup of coffee or tea while she caught up on daily life. She especially treasured time with her grandkids whether she was building legos, puzzles, reading or playing Wii sports. Margaret, known lovingly as “Nana” to her grandkids, lived a life defined by warmth, generosity, kindness and devotion to the people she loved.
Margaret will be remembered for her empathy and resilience even when she often struggled with health problems. She made it a priority to help people, frequently making meals, providing rides or just actively listening and sharing encouraging words. Margaret made people feel special and loved. She made custom cards on her computer for every occasion and frequently sent thoughtful notes and thank yous. She made birthday cards for every resident and staff member both at Heartfield’s Assisted Living facility in VA and Mt Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester NH. Margaret cultivated friendships wherever she lived and maintained those connections.
Her hobbies over the years included bowling, making homemade candy and doing a variety of crafts such as sewing and painting. She loved to cook and bake and hosted a cookie swap every year. She enjoyed the ocean, boating on lake Winnesquam and fishing. She was also passionate about playing cards, board games, bingo, cross words, reading and observing animals/birds. She loved her furry friends Buster, Kitty and Jessica caring for them as family. Margaret made it a priority to celebrate every moment with her loved ones. She was a big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and watched all of the games. She also loved traveling when she was able. Her favorite trips were to England, Ireland, Germany, Montreal, Maine, and Cape May NJ. Margaret inspired people with her positivity and inner strength. She was a remarkable woman and will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Her funeral mass will be held on June 8, 2026 at 10:00 am at St Jude Parish in Londonderry NH.
