Margaret J. Quinn

Margaret J. Quinn, 99, passed away peacefully at Havenwood/Heritage Heights, Concord, NH, in the company of her daughter, following a period of declining health. She was born July 17, 1918, the daughter of Harry and Florence Bradley Jackson, who had immigrated to the US from Burnley, England.
She married Frederick L. Quinn in 1941. They were married for 48 years until his death in 1989. In 1951, they moved to Sanford, ME, where they lived until retiring to Oviedo, FL, in 1979. In 2001, Margaret moved back north settling into the Havenwood/Heritage Heights community in Concord.
A registered nurse, Margaret graduated from Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing in Fall River, MA in 1940. After several years in private duty practice she found her calling in maternity and was the Obstetrics Nursing Supervisor at H. D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford, ME, for fourteen years, helping to bring hundreds of babies into the world.
She was an avid needle worker; sewing, knitting and doing counted cross stitch. Examples of her prolific work adorn the houses of all her family.
An accomplished pianist, she had accompanied The Fall River Men's Glee Club, a group founded and directed by her father. The many family gatherings she was fond of hosting often wound up with a sing-a-long around the piano.
She enjoyed traveling, making many trips to England to visit with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She and Fred fulfilled a dream of his by taking a round the world trip.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Thomas P. Jackson, and a son-in-law, Gilbert B. Davenport.
She is survived by a son, Robert L. Quinn and his wife, Barbara of Venice, Fl; a daughter, Carol S. Quinn Davenport of Dover, NH; granddaughters Alyssa Davenport Pettingill (James), Megan Davenport Karas (Christian),Christine Quinn Sinkewicz (Rob); a grandson, Richard Quinn (Veronica); 10 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews and several cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Margaret is scheduled for July 22, 2018 at 2 pm at First Parish Church, Dover, NH.
