Margaret R. Higgins, 78, of Derry, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2026, at a nursing home facility in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Margaret was born in Hohenfels, Germany, and came to the United States by ferry with her mother and sister in 1955. She worked for many years as a bookbinder before retiring in the mid-2000s.
Known to family and friends as "Peggy," she was a loving wife, mother, nana, and friend. She enjoyed traveling whenever she could and especially treasured spending time with her six grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil. Peggy also found great joy in keeping up around the yard.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William G. Higgins Jr. of Derry, New Hampshire; her mother, Hiltraut J. Loos of Medford, Massachusetts; her father, Wilbur Deming of Arizona; and her sister, Uta C. Blanco of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Peggy is survived by her son, William G. Higgins III and his wife, Kelli J. Higgins, and granddaughter, Skylar M. Higgins, of Dover, New Hampshire; her daughter, Tanya L. Johnson and her husband, Brian Johnson, along with their children, Brianna, Zachary, Jacob, Joshua, and Caleb Johnson, of Derry, New Hampshire; and her daughter, Jaime K. Higgins and her partner, Meghan Brown, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. She is also survived by the Deming family of California, the Price family of Arizona, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
A service will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH 03303, on Thursday, July 30th at 10:00 AM.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Manchester.
