Marguerite (Duclos) Girouard

d. July 28, 2022

Nashua, NH

Marguerite (Duclos) Girouard, lifelong resident of Nashua, NH, passed away on July 28, 2022.  She was 78.

Born and raised in Nashua, Margaret had fond memories of growing up on Badger Street and enjoying the simple life of the 1950s.  In 1970, she met the love of her life and current husband, Roger. Married in 1971, they moved to Utah where they opened up the first grinder shop in the Salt Lake City area.  She had two daughters, Erika and Elizabeth, but was soon homesick and moved back to Nashua to raise her family.

She believed in Catholic education and got a job, first at Nashua Catholic Jr High School, then moved on to Bishop Guertin High School where she retired from in 2008.  On any given day, she served hundreds of students and adults with ease, as a teacher, counselor, nurse, coach, confessor, mediator, event planner, interior designer, knitting consultant, confidante, disciplinarian, receptionist, attendance officer and perhaps most importantly as a mom to all students.  In 2000, she received the Bishop Guertin Andre Coindre Award for “serving and inspiring young people spiritually, physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially.”

Margaret loved her family, first and foremost, and spending time with them.  She enjoyed the simple pleasures of her home, porch and flower garden along with her many hobbies including knitting, sewing and quilting.  Her number one priority in her life was her two daughters and later on being a grandmother or Mummum to Brayden and Ella.  She was the best mother and grandmother you could ask for.

Margaret will be missed by her beloved family and friends.  She was the light of our lives.  We will miss her passion for life, warm personality, and words of wisdom.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger; her two daughters Erika (Girouard) Pouliot and her spouse Jamie of Manchester, NH, and Elizabeth (Girouard) Stratton and her spouse Philip and her two grandchildren Brayden and Ella of Cheshire, CT.  She is also survived by her siblings, Daniel Duclos and Denise (Duclos) Duhamel, both of Nashua, NH and several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Annette (Boilard) Duclos.

Special thank you to the Bishop Guertin High School community, St Joseph’s Hospital Oncology Department and Home Health and Hospice Care for the wonderful care and support you gave to her over the past 15 months.
