She was born in York, PA on December 6, 1921, the daughter of Howard and Marie (Plitt) Sowers. She graduated from Northfield Seminary (now called Northfield-Mount Hermon School) in Western, MA in 1941. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in 1945 from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. Several years later, she received a Masters Degree from Boston University. After her marriage in 1945, she lived in Westford, MA for 26 years and had been a resident of Weare since 1977. At home, she loved to read, sew, cook and especially enjoyed to do challenging crossword puzzles. At the age of 72, she decided to start taking piano lessons because “she wanted to know how”. She was predeceased by one brother and a sister. She is also survived by her beloved daughter-in-law, Shirley Rennie. A memorial gathering will take place at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street on Thursday morning from 10 – 11 AM with a memorial service to follow in the Chapel at 11:00.
