Marian H. (O’Sullivan) Maison, age 69, passed away peacefully July 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH, after a short, but brave battle with cancer. She was born on November 5, 1954 in Cork City, Ireland, the daughter of James and Elizabeth “Lillie” O’Sullivan. She was the wife of Leo Maison, with whom she had just celebrated her 27th wedding anniversary.
Marian first came to the United States, from Ireland, when she was 4 years old, and returned permanently 7 years later, at age 11, eventually becoming a proud U.S. Citizen at 18. She graduated from Lowell High School, and then went on to work many jobs, until she landed a position as a mail processor at the United States Postal Service, where she worked and retired from, after 23 years of service. But her all time favorite job was being “Nanny,” to her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. Family meant everything to her, and even close friends were treated as if they were such.
Marian was an amazing mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Those who were blessed to know her would describe her as kind, compassionate, loving, and funny. She always had the best stories to share. Anyone at any time could always count on her. Her selflessness and devotion to her children, grandchildren, family and friends, shined through in every aspect of her life. She never missed any opportunities to show support, and to let people know how proud she was of them.
Marian had deep pride in her Irish heritage, and her house was adorned with mementos from her homeland. She loved to travel both near and far, and every year, she would travel to Mississippi to be with her son, and his family. During the summer months, she enjoyed going to the beach, especially to Cape Cod, where she went on vacation every Labor Day weekend with her husband, daughter, and family. She spent most of the Spring and Fall seasons at the soccer field, watching her granddaughters play. She was their biggest fan. In the winter, she enjoyed holiday get-togethers, decorating her house so that it looked as if it could’ve been in a magazine, and looking at Christmas light displays. She had a talent for crafting and creating decorations, adding her personal touch to every celebration.
Marian is survived by her devoted husband, Leo Maison, of Hudson, NH; her daughter, Colleen Parrington and fiance, Matt Fraser, of Manchester, NH; her son, Kevin Parrington, Jr. and wife, Sarah Schafer-Parrington of Diamondhead, MS; her brother, Larry O’Sullivan, of St. Petersburg, FL; and the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Aubrey and Teagan Fraser, Jack Parrington, and Drew, Owen, and Aden Schafer. She also leaves behind her brother-in law, Joe Maison, and his wife, Cheryl; sisters-in-law, Sue Wolgamuth and husband, Gerard, Patty Deyoung and husband, Keith, Paula Hoyt and husband Bob, Rebecca Maison, and Pamela Maison; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend, Gail Maguire of Hampstead, NH; and her “adopted daughter,” Jessica Connare of Hooksett, NH.
Marian’s legacy of love, generosity, strength, and grace will forever be cherished. She will be deeply missed by her family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will always be “our sunshine.”
