Marie Rose Kadden (Caruso, Duffy), 88, of Goffstown, NH died on May 31, 2017 at home with her family by her side. Born in New York City on February 22, 1929, she is the daughter of the late Rose Bencivenga and the late Vincent "Jimmy" Caruso and sister of the late Leonard Caruso. After graduating Central Commercial High School in Manhattan, class of 1947, she married the late Thomas W. Duffy in 1948. They had two children and were married for 35 years living most of their life together in New Jersey. She married the late Kurt Kadden in 1991. They were married six years and lived in Somers, NY. Together they enjoyed travels in California, Arizona, and Mexico
Marie was a working mother and devoted many years as an executive secretary to a sewing machine import company in West New York, NJ and the Teaneck, NJ Board of Education. Once retired, she discovered her creative side as a ceramics artist, decorating her home with her work. A lifelong Democrat, she was president of the women's club of Heritage Hills in Somers, NY where she helped to bring in new members and activities, including the introduction of Weight Watchers courses to Heritage Hills (a condo community).
Her passion was in the kitchen and cooking for her family with signature dishes like spaghetti with meatballs, chicken soup, and pasta with lentils. Marie enjoyed the company of family pets and watching the hummingbirds at her feeder. An avid listener of talk radio and viewer of public television, Marie was "always on time for the late line" and was proudest of owning her own home in Bogota, NJ. She moved to Goffstown, NH in 2012 to be closer to her grandchildren and in the last two years of her life spent many days of the week with her devoted caregiver, Anita Jowders.
She leaves behind her son, Thomas J. Duffy and his wife Leonarda Duffy of Englewood, FL; her daughter, Jo Ann Duffy of Goffstown, NH; granddaughters, Jessica D'Avanza and her fiance Scott Gobeille of Cranston, RI, Andrea D'Avanza of Goffstown, NH; and great-granddaughter Lilyana Carter of Goffstown, NH.
Private services will be held and arrangements were made through the Cremation Society of New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marie's memory to Goffstown Fire Rescue Association at 18 Church St, Goffstown, NH
