Marilyn Kimball

Marilyn (Lyn) Kimball was born on July 19, 1939 to the late John H. Kimball, Sr. and Virginia Doughty Kimball. She attended schools in Melrose, Lynnfield and Wakefield. Lyn was a collector and a communicator. She collected everything from rocks to feathers, baskets to books, turquoise to photos, obituaries to people. Starting with chairs, she moved on to Indian baskets rugs and jewelry, paintings, and pots. When Lyn learned of someone's interest, she put them together with somebody with the same interest. Her friends were many and sources of delight for her. Lyn's attachment to these issues may have been a reflection of her first career in college admissions, working at Cedar Crest, Western, Wellesley and Chatham. She had shown her varied interests as a philosophy major as an undergraduate at Radcliffe, a Master's Degree in American Folklife and a law degree, then joining the family firm. Lyn's wonder and love for God carried her throughout her life. Church, Cursillo and Adelynrood were sources of joy and support. Lyn was both down to earth and sometimes out of space, balanced on three of the four Myers Briggs measurements, she floated in the air on intuition versus sensational. Nonetheless, writing, collage and watercolor painting were among her favorite hobbies. Lyn outlived her much loved poodles, Pippin, Rainbow, Princess, and Rocky, and her calico cat, Punch. Lyn’s brother David, formerly of Goffstown, NH, predeceased her, while she was survived by David’s daughters Ashely and Amanda. Lyn was also survived by her brother, John Jr. (Jay) of Lynnfield, and his children, John III, Laura, Matthew, Peter, and Luke.
