Lee, NH â Marilyn E. (Thompson) Leavitt, 85, passed away peacefully in her daughter's home in Lee, NH, on March 17, 2018. She was born in Bridgton, on October 21, 1932 to Charles E. and Alta (Pendexter) Thompson
Marilyn attended schools in Bridgton Maine, after which, she met and married Richard E. Leavitt. They made their home in Newbury Ma where they raised their 3 children. They retired first to Bridgton and then to Greenville, Maine. She moved to Lee in 2006.
Marilyn loved the outdoors. She was an excellent skier and she was a ski instructor for many years. In the summers she enjoyed hiking the mountains in NH, earning her the 4000 Footers badge. She loved her gardens and would spend hours tending to the flowers and vegetables. Many a neighbor and friend benefited from her fresh and canned fruits and vegetables. Marilyn also loved the water and could be seen swimming and boating on many a summer day. She was also a Swim Instructor for the local area where many children and adults benefited for her gentle instruction. She also was an award winning quilter and painter having shown her creations in many local fairs. Marilyn enjoyed travelling the world and she was able to visit all of the continents, her favorites being Africa and Antarctica.
Marilyn's favorite activity by far was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters and found great joy in her later years when they came to visit.
Marilyn Leavitt is survived by her Son, Alan Leavitt and his wife Lydia of Medford, MA; son, Scott Leavitt and his wife Helen of Pasadena; daughter, Elizabeth (Bette) Reith and her husband Howard (Skip) of Lee, NH; grandson Charlie Morrill and his wife Allison of Raymond, NH; granddaughter Nichole Montanez and her husband Andy of Lee, NH; grandson Alex Leavitt and his fiancé Ashley of San Francisco, step grandson Howard Reith of Cambridge, MA, and great-granddaughters, Cassie Morrill, Valentina Montanez, and Catalina Montanez. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband (Richard E. Leavitt) and by brothers, Charles (Peter) and Zane Thompson.
