Marion Caron Gagliuso

Marion Caron Gagliuso passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 after a brief illness. She was 91.
Marion was born in Berlin, New Hampshire on October 28, 1926, the daughter of H. Arthur Caron and Regina (Bergeron) Caron. She was a member of the first graduating class of Notre Dame High School in 1943, excelling in writing and public speaking. She pursued these interests further at Rivier College.
In 1948, she married Richard J. Gagliuso, also of Berlin. As he studied music education in Boston, Marion worked as a librarian at MIT. After a short stint in Rumford, Maine, Marion and Richard settled in Concord, New Hampshire.
Marion devoted the next several years of her life to her family, including a son, Richard, and a daughter, Andrea. Marion gave generously of her time and talents to her community, including years of service to the Greater Concord United Way and as an active member of the Concord Music Club.
After working in a dental office from 1978 to 1988, Marion, along with Richard in his retirement, became an on-site coordinator for Concord Dental Seminars, which gave them an opportunity to travel throughout the country "on assignment."
Throughout her life, Marion enjoyed the performing arts and was a frequent concert-goer. She closely followed current events and was a formidable debater of social and political issues. Her love of language made her an avid crossword puzzle-solver. For many years, Marion and Richard maintained their healthy lifestyle by walking the streets of their Springfield Street neighborhood and Concord's south end.
The hallmark of Marion's life, however, and her overarching accomplishment, was her love for her family. Her love affair with Richard lasted over six decades, and her devotion to her children and grandchildren was immeasurable.
Marion spent her last few years living at Ledgewood Bay, an assisted-living community in Milford, just a few miles from the home of her son and his family. Although she missed Concord, she made many new friends at Ledgewood and took full advantage of the social activities and events they offered.
Marion is survived by her son Rick and his wife Kelly; her granddaughter Laura Gagliuso, her husband Iqtedar Chaudhry and their sons Aiden and Alexander; her granddaughter Linda O'Donnell, her husband Bryan and their son Ethan and their daughter Adrienne; her granddaughter Rachel Gagliuso; her daughter, Andrea Bickford and her husband Dale; her grandson Benjamin Bickford and his wife Mandy; her grandson Jackson Bickford; her granddaughter Chelsea Meserve, her husband Jake and their son Cole; and many nieces and nephews who were dear to her.
Marion's ashes will be interred alongside her husband's in a private ceremony at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
Friends and neighbors are invited to join Marion's family at a celebration of her life on Sunday, May 20, 2018 between noon and 3:00 PM at the Grappone Conference Center, at 70 Constitution Avenue in Concord.
In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, friends are encouraged to make a donation in Marion's name to the Concord Community Music School.
