Marion Edith (Johnson) Heft, 91, died June 20th 2024 at 10:34 AM while in hospice care in her sister’s home in Lebanon, Maine. She was born on December 18th 1932 in Lee, New Hampshire, the daughter of Alexander Jenness Johnson and Marion Ethel (lneson) Johnson.
Marion was the fifth child of Alexander and Marion. The middle child of nine, Marion knew a happy, carefree childhood with her family in Barrington NH until her Mother's untimely death when Marion had just turned thirteen. She continued school in Dover, NH where she also joined Civil Air Patrol (CAP). She graduated from school and was licensed as a Cosmetologist. In March 1951 Marion joined the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) for service during the Korean Conflict. In June 1954 she wed James David Heft of Portland, Oregon. And in November 1954 she was honorably discharged from the WAC. Marion made her home in Portland, OR for a short time before moving to Santa Monica, CA. In 1960 she moved to Dover, NH where she found employment in retail bookkeeping. In August 1964 she was blessed with a son, Jason Daniel Heft. Later in 1970 she moved to Berwick, Maine and was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine for the remainder of her working years. She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, James David Heft. Marion is survived by her sisters Grace Youngren of Rochester, New Hampshire and Janice Lovely of Lebanon, Maine and her son Jason Daniel Heft of Wells, Maine and a granddaughter Kyla Ayers of Orlando, Florida.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on July 13th at 11 AM at the First Parish Congregational Church, 650 Center Road Lebanon Maine 04027.
Private burial services will be for the family at the Boscawen Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen NH, 03303.
Donations or memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to First Parish Congregational Church, 650 Center Road, Lebanon, Maine 04027 in the Memory of Marion Heft.
