Mark A. DeCarteret

Mark Arthur DeCarteret, 58, of Pelham, NH, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Mark’s life was a testament to dedication, kindness, and quiet strength. Family was the cornerstone of his life. An amazing father who showed up for every game, every ceremony, and every tough moment. The annual vacations at Hampton Beach, camping, and hanging poolside were always something everyone looked forward to.

Mark grew up in Tyngsboro, MA where he attended local schools and was a three-sport athlete. He was a proud member of the 1980 football team that in 2015 was inducted into the Tyngsboro High School Athletic Hall of Fame. After an injury in high school, he still wanted to stay involved. It was then he was introduced to coaching. When asked to coach his kids he proudly stepped up. His love for sports was evident in how he coached. Giving back to the community, spending over two decades coaching youth teams, he became a mentor and role model to countless kids. His coaching style was marked by patience, encouragement, and the belief that teamwork mattered more than the scoreboard.

As an avid New England sports fan, he shared that love with his kids. Watching at home or taking them to the games was a memory they will hold dear. Tuesday was darts night. Being competitive and playing with numerous dart teams in the Greater Lowell area, he formed many long-time friendships.

Mark is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carolyn; his two children, Hollyann and her husband Sean, and Devin and his partner Savahna; and his precious granddaughter, Emilia. He also leaves behind countless family members, friends, teammates, and former players who were lucky enough to know him.

Mark leaves behind so many wonderful memories of a life well lived, full of purpose, laughter, and love. He will be missed beyond measure and never forgotten. "He lives in you."

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, July 19th from 7pm - 9pm at the Dracut American Legion in Dracut, MA. Please dress casually and comfortably. We invite you to bring your favorite memory and pictures of Mark to share.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark’s name to the DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation program: Sports Matter.
