Mark Hardy

Mark R. Hardy, age 62, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at his home on Chester Turnpike in Candia, New Hampshire. He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 24, 1955 to the late Elliot and Harriett Hardy of Candia, NH. He was the beloved husband of his devoted wife, the former Eileen M. Brosnan.

As a boy, he enjoyed snowmobiling, snow skiing, water skiing, rattlesnake hunting, fireworks, small scale cannons, camping, mechanical things, rebuilding engines and field bomb cars. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and the Manchester Memorial High School Color Guard.

As a man, he enjoyed his German Shepard dogs, Harley Davidson motorcycles, reading, music, the sun, the beach, recreational shooting, eating out, travel and time with family.

Mark's work history began in the mid 1970's when he was employed by Edison Electronics of Manchester, NH as a manufacturing line engineer for several years. He then worked as a stevedore at the State Pier in Portsmouth, NH. He also worked as a laborer, pipefitter and welder at Seabrook, NH Nuclear Power Station. He then attended the New England Laborers Training Academy where he was trained in rock drilling and blasting techniques. Thereafter, he worked with the Portsmouth Laborers Union as a rock driller and blaster on many union jobs. He was employed for several years with Abbott Drilling and Blasting of Derry, NH. Then, along with several partners, he formed several companies; Blastech and Blas-tek, both of which were rock drilling, blasting and demolition companies based in Candia, NH. He eventually became sole owner and President of these companies, they being active for 30 years from 1986 through 2016. A highlight of his working career is that he and his company were featured on the cover page including an inside article in the New England Construction magazine.

His civic involvement includes Selectman of Candia, NH for several terms, Fire Warden of Candia, NH and Entered Apprentice member of Rockingham Lodge # 76, Free & Accepted Masons of Candia, NH.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Brosnan Hardy of Candia, NH and Limerick, Ireland. He is also survived by his former wife, Lisa Provost Hardy of Manchester, NH and their son, Mark R. Hardy II, also known as Randy, of Candia, NH. He is survived by his brothers, Bruce Hardy of Manchester, NH, Russell Hardy of Candia, NH and sisters, Lisa Hardy Chronis of Pembroke, NH and Cara Hardy Cote of Chichester, NH. He is survived by his nieces, Erin Hardy Heald, Bryn Hardy Colby, Sayr Hardy Rivera, Jamie Hardy Jordan, Therese Chronis Provencher, Naomi Chronis Abraham, and Sarah Cote Harrison. He is survived by his nephews, Scot Hardy, Adam Cote and Stephen Cote. He is survived by many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on October 22, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Hooksett Congregational Church, 5 Veterans Drive, Hooksett, NH. Directly after the memorial service there will be a luncheon, refreshments and conversation with the family in the church dining hall.
