Martha Barnhart Orr, 96, of Goffstown, NH, died on February 25, 2025 at the Ridgewood Center in Bedford. She was born on February 2, 1929 in New Carlisle, OH, daughter of the late Howard and Edith (Eicholz) Barnhart. She shared 62 years of marriage with her late husband, Harley J. Orr.

Martha attended New Carlisle High School in Ohio. She also attended Miami University in Oxford, OH. At first, she taught home economics full time and later did substitute teaching.

In 1961, Martha, her husband, Harley, and her sons, Paul Douglas and Michael, moved to New Hampshire. Her daughter was born in October of 1961. Martha has always loved NH and she couldn’t get over how beautiful it is.

Martha was active in the ladies’ social circle at the Bedford Presbyterian Church. She also attended services there. She also volunteered and drove for The Fish Organization. The Orr family enjoyed many years socializing at The Bedford Bluffs, a swim and tennis club.

Martha’s great passions included knitting, embroidery, braiding and hooking rugs.

Martha was predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-laws, Ruth and Elwood Skilling and Marlene and Larry McVey. She is survived by her children, Paul Douglas Orr, Michael Orr and his wife, Susan, and Jennifer Brooker; her grandchildren, Zachary and Noah Orr, Stephanie Elizabeth Pena, and Sarah Ellen Brooker; and her great-granddaughter, Madison Orr.

Per Martha’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
