Martha Lucille Simmons

Martha Lucille (Oliver) Simmons, 87, of 10 Allds Street, Nashua, died August 10, 2002 at Southern New Hampshire Regional Hospital. She was born in Grand Pass, MO on September 21, 1914, the daughter of Benjamin and Nora (Burnett) Oliver and resided in Detroit, MI for most of her life before moving to New Hampshire in 1997. She was a school teacher in Missouri earlier in her career. She had been a girl scout leader and treasurer for the Kings Daughter's in Michigan and also was a member of the Kings Daughters in Nashua. She belonged to the Eastern Star and PEO. She did volunteer work while a resident of the Hunt Community in Nashua and acted as hostess for her building welcoming new residents. She was a member of the First Church, UCC. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Simmons who died in 1995. Family members include one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Susan) Rice of Nashua; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Plattner of Allentown, PA; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday August 13 at 10:00 AM in the First Church, UCC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, McGreal Sight Center, 25 Walker Street. Concord, NH 03301-4599.
