Martin Walsh

Martin “Marty” K. Walsh, Sr., died March 9, 2005 at Westwood/Harborside Healthcare Center in Keene after a period of failing health. He moved from Houston, Texas to Keene in June, 2003. He was born August 6, 1930, in Manchester, NH, son of Peter F. Walsh and Catherine Burke. He attended St. John’s Prep School in Manchester and received his BA degree from St. Anselm’s College in 1952 and his M.BA from UNH in 1954. Mr. Walsh was the collections and credit manager for the May Company in California up until his retirement. He also was a skilled carpenter and took pride in the fact that he had personally built 3 houses in his lifetime. He enjoyed music, particularly classical and Irish music, and loved animals. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed people and socializing. He was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Keene since moving to NH in 2003. In the past he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his daughter, Eileen Perra of Keene, NH; his daughter, Carolyn McAnney of Swanzey, NH; his son, Martin K. Walsh, Jr. of Houston, TX; his daughter, Elizabeth A. Walsh of Beaumont, TX; his son, Daniel C. Walsh of Houston, TX; his daughter, Kathleen S. Krol of Simi Valley, CA; a son, Alan Craig of Weare, NH and a daughter, Karen Melcher of Waukegan, IL; he has 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His first wife, Dorothy Czech died March 27, 1967; his second wife, Lorraine Lashua died January 29, 1999. A daughter, Barbara A. Walsh-Lansberg died May 12, 1996. Friends and family are invited to attend service of the Word at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Main Street, Keene at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 18, 2005. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a contribution be made in Mr. Walsh’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
