Mary Heath Buxton, 83, of 319 East Dunstable Road, formerly of 14 Hooker Street, Nashua, passed away April 10, 2004, after a short illness. Born on June 16, 1920 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the daughter of Howard and Mabel Heath, she grew up in New Boston, NH and spent her entire adult life in Nashua. She was valedictorian of the New Boston High School class of 1938. Following her graduation from New Hampshire Business College (Southern UNH) in 1939 she was a legal secretary in the Nashua area. In 1944 she married Kenneth E. Buxton of Milford, NH and they had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They moved to Nashua in 1945. While raising her family she worked for a local catering business and, eventually, as a secretary for the Nashua school system at the Main Dunstable School. She found great pleasure in being with the elementary school children. She was a long-time and active member of the First Congregational Church in Nashua, the Hillsboro County Extension Service and the Nashua Order of the Eastern Star. She loved gardening, cooking, skiing, traveling and, especially family gatherings at her familys cottage in York, Maine. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved people and shared a warm and loving sense of humor. Mary is survived by her husband, Kenneth, two sons, John Buxton of Annapolis, MD and David Buxton of Peterborough, NH, a daughter-in-law, Deborah Buxton, of Peterborough, NH, a former daughter-in-law, Marilyn Buxton, of Fairfax, VA, and four grandchildren Eric and Jen Buxton of Peterborough, Ian Buxton of Arlington, VA and Tanya Buxton of Fairfax, VA. Other survivors include two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barb and Bob Beaudry of Hudson, NH and Pauline and Charlie Lawrence of Nashua and a niece and nephew. A memorial service is planned for a future date.
