Beloved Wife and Mother Mary Lou Carr, 74, of 203 Osgood Road, Milford, died at her home on Monday, May 3, 2004. Mrs. Carr was born November 28, 1929, in Annapolis, Maryland, daughter of Capt. George K. Weber, USN, and Elizabeth Redmond Weber. She graduated from Annapolis High School and went on to attend Mary Washington College in Fredricksburg, Virginia. During her working career, Mrs. Carr was employed by the U.S. government at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and the Veterans Administration in Coral Gables, Florida. She later worked for Hitchener Mfg. in Milford, Matthew Thornton Clinic in Nashua, and Dartmouth Hitchcock in Nashua and Manchester. Following her retirement in 1990 she founded and managed the Historic Murfreesboro Gift Shop in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Mrs. Carr and her husband were very active in the area of historic preservation and restored several important landmark houses in New Hampshire and North Carolina. Their early nineteenth century home in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and in 1995 was awarded the Carraway Award of Merit for Achievement in Historic Preservation in the State of North Carolina. She was also and avid gardener and bridge enthusiast with membership in several local bridge clubs. In addition to her husband of 52 years, Robert Wilson Carr of Milford, survivors include a son, Robert Carr, and grandson, Noah Carr, of Malden, Massachusetts; a daughter, Cynthia Carr, of Amherst, NH; and a sister, Patricia Fry, of Winchester, Maryland. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 5th at the First Congregational Church, Union Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Do It Committee of Milford.
