Mary-Elizabeth Granger Downes, 79, of Danville, NH, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at The Birches in Concord, NH. Born on November 12, 1946, in Hartford, CT. Mary was the daughter of Everett Granger and Carolyn Lee (Starr).

Meg was educated in Simsbury, CT and earned her degree in nursing from Vermont College and became a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career, she held various nursing positions in Connecticut and Massachusetts, dedicating herself to the care of others.

Meg enjoyed collecting rocks, gems, and porcelain dolls. She was also an avid wildlife photographer and cherished spending her springs and summers with family and friends around Moosehead Lake in Maine, where she found great joy in nature and the outdoors.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Peter Downes.

She is survived by her two sons, William G. Downes and his partner, Melissa German, of Epsom, NH, and Matthew G. Downes of Nashua, NH; her five grandchildren, Sarah Downes, Billy Downes, Kayla Bontaites, Brooklynn Terry, and Navaeh Downes; her brother, Everett R. Granger and his wife, Theresa, of Somerset, MA; and her daughter-in-law, Judy Ann.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial graveside service on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Old Meetinghouse Cemetery, Route 111A, Danville, NH. A gathering and reception will follow the service.
