Mary Ellen Florand (Callahan), 81, of Goffstown, New Hampshire, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, after a period of declining health.
Mary Ellen was born on June 27, 1944, to Edward and Mary Ellen (Diciaccio) Callahan. She graduated from St. Clements High School and went on to work in a variety of roles throughout her life, including with Puppy’s Canteen Truck and NH Employment Security.
Mary Ellen was fiercely devoted to her family. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, enjoyed summers in Maine, and created countless cherished memories with those she loved most. Her great-grandchildren—Cora, Emma, and Sawyer—brought immense joy to her life and held a special place in her heart.
She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her unwavering love of family, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel comfortable, welcomed, and at home.
Mary Ellen is survived by her three children: Kristen Tanguay and her husband, Real, of Hooksett; Susan Gagnon of Weare; and David Hiltz of Goffstown. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Callahan of Andover, Massachusetts; her brother, Edward Callahan and his wife, Shari, of Litchfield; and her niece, Amy Van Magness of Reading, Massachusetts.
Her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant everything to her, include Lindsey Gelinas, her husband, Steve, and their daughter, Cora, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; Katelyn Gagnon and her son, Sawyer, of Manchester; David Gagnon of Brooklyn, NY; Matthew Lodge, his wife, Melia, and their daughter, Emma, of Manchester; and Zachary Gagnon and his wife, Rebecca of Goffstown. She is also survived by her great-niece and great-nephews, Jonathan, Benjamin, and Katie Van Magness of Reading, Massachusetts, along with many extended family members and friends who were fortunate to know and love her.
Mary Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Roger Florand, her son in law, David Gagnon, and her parents.
The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to her second family at The Courville at Bedford-Carlyle Place for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided, helping her feel truly at home during her time there.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH, on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
