Mary Jane (Cox) Denison

York, ME – Mary Jane Denison (nee Cox), 96, peacefully passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Sentry Hill @ York Harbor, where she lived in comfort during the last years of her life. Born in Alpha, IL on June 5, 1922, she was the only child of Howard Duane Cox and Lillian Pansy Taylor.

She is survived by her 3 children: Susan Anderson (& her husband, Bob) of Dexter, MI; Laurel Denison (& her husband, John McHenry) of Enfield, NH; Todd Denison (& his wife Debbie) of Stoneham, MA; 4 grandsons, 4 great grandsons, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Jack E. Denison. After raising their family in Long Beach, CA, Plainview, NY, and Stoneham, MA, they retired to Rochester, NH where they enjoyed quiet, country living. They shared many adventures while traveling in the U.S. in their motorhome and around the world on cruise ships. Avid baseball fans, they especially enjoyed following the Red Sox each year from spring training to Fenway Park.

Mary Jane loved the company of her dog and the 4 cats she had over the years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, knitting, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, and gardening. She especially loved music and was most joyful when she was dancing like no one was watching! Always dressed in style, she was a playful kid at heart and had a wonderful sense of humor.

A celebration of her life will be held at a time yet to be determined.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society at https://cvhsonline.org or the Alzheimer's Association at alzfdn.org.

Her family sends their heartfelt and grateful thanks to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Sentry Hill @ York Harbor for the gentle, loving care she received there for the last 12 years of her life.
