Mary-Jean (Trachier) Chaput died Sunday, August 9 2026, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 6, 1940 in Hanover, NH, the daughter of Philip and Irene Trachier.
A graduate of Hanover (NH) High School class of 1958, she earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science and happily served as Research Librarian in many venues, ending her career at the Frank P. Carpenter Library in Manchester.
An avid quilter, she was a founding member of the Village Green Quilters; she was proud of having become the first woman member of Club Richelieu Manchester; and a life member of the American-Canadian Genealogical Society where she first met her husband, Donald, and was able to trace her ancestry through Charlemagne.
Predeceased by her brother Robert Trachier she is survived by her husband Donald Chaput, her children Jennifer (Charles) Clifford, Dustin (Annamaria) Colburn, Diana Loder (partner Steve Croteau), Ethan (Wendy) Colburn; grand-children Sarah Fuller (TJ McAndrew), Jonathan (Brooke Pulitzer) Colburn, Christopher (Areeba Hasan) Lumb, Jacob (Amanda) Loder, Matthew (partner Alyssa Luiz) Loder, Lucas (partner Victoria Negron) Loder, Danielle (Kenny) Craig, Matthew (Samantha) Boisvert, Dustin Colburn; five great grand-children; brother Philip; and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Mary-Jean's life will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday August 14 at the Cremation Society of NH, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, NH 03104.
