Mary Joan Taylor

Mary “Joan” Taylor, nee Gallant, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. She was born on June 20, 1936, in Rumford, ME, the daughter of the late Nelson and Emma Gallant.

Her youth was spent laughing, joking and having fun with friends and family by the water, at campsites and at various homes and backyards along the way.

Joan worked for Mass Laborers, filing claims and accounting for umpteen million years. She was famous for coining the phrase “this system SUCKS” for each new computer system.

Spending her entire life in the Northeast, she loved to cook, watch pro football (especially Patrick Mahomes), watch movies from the Hallmark Channel, and have fun joking and giving the “double freedom rocket salute” to EVERYONE. What she loved most in the world though, was spending time with her granddaughter Amelia. They were two peas in a pod, playing imaginary games that Amelia made up, doing arts and crafts or just relaxing and watching tv together. Joan was the #1 cheerleader at all of Amelia’s events.

Her dearly loved and departed immediate family includes her sisters Mary Nanny Lovezzola and Mary Frances “Franny” Cella.

Joan is survived by her son Scott and his wife Laurel, and the love of her life, her granddaughter Amelia. She is also survived by her brother in-law Jack Lovezzola and his children Jack Lovezzola and Jean Wozniak, and nieces, Vicki Van Sant, and Karen Moores.

She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

A Remembrance Party will be held on Sunday, November 10 at The Chateau Restaurant, 195 School Street, Waltham, MA from 1:00-4:00 PM. Please RSVP to Scott at mjtaylor477@icloud.com

In lieu of flowers please donate, in Joan’s name, to the Shriners Children’s Hospital at LoveToTheRescue.org.
