Mary Jean (Aldridge) Snell passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023 after a brief illness. She had recently become a resident of the Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin, NH. Prior to that, she lived for two years at the Golden Crest Senior Living Community in Franklin.
Born to Francis Wilson Aldridge and Louise Mae (Dana) Aldridge on October 9, 1942, Mary grew up in Bartlett, NH with her younger sister, Lois Mae (Aldridge) Howard. After graduating from Kennett in 1960, Mary went to Cambridge Business School in Boston, MA, earning an Executive Secretarial Degree in 1961.
As an adult, Mary worked as a secretary, as a bookkeeper, and in medical billing. She lived in several NH towns, including North Conway and Wilton, eventually settling in Rochester in 1983 to be near her family. She continued to work in various office environments until her retirement.
Mary loved the ocean, lighthouses, cats, and music. She enjoyed reading, writing, attending the First Baptist Church of Greater Rochester, and spending time with family. Mary was especially proud of her work with the Foster Grandparent Program in the Rochester School District, where she volunteered at Chamberlain Street School.
