Maryann B. Lamar (Douglass)

Maryann B. Lamar, born May 6th, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, passed away on April 8th, 2023 at Merrimack County Home in Boscawen, NH. Maryann was a loving mother, friend, and a hard worker who never let hardships prevent her from caring for her children.

Maryann was a passionate animal lover and bred poodles. She loved her animals dearly and often talked about her teacup poodle  SheShe, and cats - Bobby and Tommy. Maryann also enjoyed the rose bushes her husband Thomas planted for her. She was an avid fan of the Star Trek series and HeeHaw.

After Thomas passed away, Maryann learned to drive a bus which helped her navigating her new life. Her tough exterior could be attributed to not growing up with the best examples of how to love but she truly did all she could to show her family that she loved them.

She had a strong faith in God which was evident from the way she would often quote Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails", always reminding herself and those around her that God will work it out. Her Sunday picnics shared with family at Hatfield, PA are one of the fondest traditions they will remember.

Maryann was a great gift-giver known for getting eccentric gifts to give to all those close to her – especially her grandchildren. Maryann loved being part of church community and cherished friendships formed there as well as friendships formed later on in life such as her good friend, Joan Buck. She was a wonderful mother and did all she could to provide for her children. One of the things that brought her joy was watching them participate in the marching band, taking them to roller skating rinks, and dancing with them.

Maryann is survived by her loving children, Frida and Tom Vanderlely, Linda Prather, Paul Douglass, and Maryann Zirngiebel.  Maryann is preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Douglass and father and mother Paul Deiley and Mary Hilkert Deiley. She is survived by her Second husband Leroy Lamar.

Maryann's legacy will live on through the memories of those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered as someone who loved fiercely, always held strong to her faith, lived life to the fullest. Rest in peace Maryann B. Lamar.
