Matthew Paul Smith, 49, passed unexpectedly March 5, 2023 in Manchester, NH.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles H. Smith and stepfather Alan J. Perreault
Matthew was born May 23, 1973 in Rockford, Illinois to Sherry Smith Perreault.
He worked as a professional roofer 20 plus years in the Northeastern United States where he also lived. Matthew excelled in physically challenging hobbies such as kickboxing and bodybuilding. He also enjoyed the beach and everything the ocean had to offer. Matthew was a protector of the innocent; he loved children and his loyalty to his loved ones was unwavering. Matthew’s heroism was unquestionable and his smile unforgettable.
While Matthew had no children of his own, he had a heart full of joy when it came to his niece and nephews. Matthew was a strong brick wall with a heart made of gold. He was a force to be reckoned with but, simultaneously at a moment’s notice, give to a person in need without concern for himself.
Matthew leaves behind his mother Sherry Smith Perreault of Hendersonville, Tennessee, She will always treasure Matthew’s incredible capacity to forgive. He leaves as well his brother Aaron (Lisa) Momaly, of Rockford, Illinois, sister Murielle (Tyler Dragness) Perreault of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and his beloved grandma Louise M. Smith of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Matthew had a great respect and love for how Aaron and Murielle loved and cared for their respective families along with their integrity. He is also survived by his niece Remi Rose, nephews Derek Alexander and Devin Michael as well as numerous extended family members, friends, and loved ones. He also leaves behind his long-standing friend and significant other Michelle Malaquis of Manchester, NH.
Matthew showed such gratitude when he was on the receiving end of life. We, his family, are going to miss him terribly. This too will pass as we will see Matthew again in heaven because of God’s grace and mercy.
