Maureen Ellen (Kipp) Zimmer, 64, of Amherst passed away May 7, 2009 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack surrounded by her loving family, after an arduous struggle with cervical cancer.
She was born on February 19, 1945 in Jersey City, NJ the daughter of Mary (Lyden) Plank of Dorset, VT and the late Charles Kipp. She spent her early childhood in Jersey City. Later the family moved to Bogota, NJ where she graduated from high school in 1962. She went on to attend Patterson State College and New Mexico Highlands University.
On September 14, 1968, she married Army captain Gerard E. Zimmer and lived in Maryland. They were later transferred to Belgium, returning to the US in 1972. She had lived in Atlanta, GA and Fort Devens, MA before moving to Nashua in 1978. She has been a resident of Amherst since 1982.
Maureen was an avid lover of all animals and enjoyed talking with diverse groups of people.
In Her Life: Besides her husband, Gerard of Amherst and her mother, Mary Plank of Dorset, VT; she is survived by her three daughters, Susan (Zimmer) Morley, Jennifer Zimmer and Christine Zimmer all of Amherst; granddaughter, Tamara Morley of Amherst; and her two brothers, Robert Kipp and Richard Kipp. Her legacy will be expressed by her three daughters and granddaughter. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Her Memorial Gathering will be held at the Cremation Society of NH, 243 Hanover St. Manchester on May 26th from 6-7PM with her Memorial Service to follow at 7:00PM.
