Maurice J. Cote, 78, of 89 Reed Street, Manchester died on October 13, 2000 at his home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Mr. Cote was born on September 23, 1922 in Manchester, the son of the late August and Denise (Allard) Cote. He was a self employed building contractor for many years in Manchester. In 1991 he retired as a code enforcement officer and building inspector for the town of Merrimack where he worked for many years. He was a WW II veteran serving in the US Army as a Sergeant and member of the military police. Mr. Cote was a lifetime member of the American Legion Sweeney Post II and a lifetime member of the Catholic Order of Forester. Family members include his wife of 31 years, Pauline (Brunelle) Cote; one son, Richard Cote of Manchester; one daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Elaine) Willett of Auburn; two granddaughters; one great grandson; one sister, Alice Bennett of Seabring, Florida; one nephew, two nieces; and several cousins. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, October 20, 2000 at 1:00 PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire Chapel (an affiliate of Phaneuf Funeral Home), 243 Hanover Street, Manchester with a Vigil Service at 2:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, 2000 at 10:00 AM at St. Jean Church in Manchester.
