Maurice "Moe" Emery

Maurice D. Emery, 91 died Thursday, June 30, 2022 at his home in Manchester, NH.  He was born on February 23, 1931 in Nashua, NH, the son of Alfred Emery and Helena (Boule) Emery. He was the husband of Dorothea L. (McQuade) Emery. They were married on July 1, 1950 in Manchester, NH.

Moe attended St. Joseph’s High School, Manchester, NH, a graduated from DeVry Technical Institute and NH Technical Institute. He had a successful career as a licensed electrician in both NH & MA. Subsequently, he was a business owner of an electrical supply house, in Lawrence, MA. He designed and quoted customer’s motor control system requirements. Moe finished his career working for Seamans Supply, Manchester, NH, as a branch manager and enjoyed servicing customers at the counter and building strong customer relations.

Moe was a family man and was the “fixer” of all things. Whether it was physical, emotional, or mechanical, he was always there. Moe was a hardworking man who also loved working and designing his home gardens.  Moe was famous for his sense of humor and always had his family smiling. Moe loved his family. He was a loving husband, father and friend. Moe once stated that “The key to the longevity of his and Dotty’s 72 years of marriage is “love is fleeting and two people need to like each other and that friendship makes for a long and successful marriage.”

He often showed his love in the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and as a group at family gatherings. Anyone who knew Maurice knew that he was the most loving husband and father a family could ask for and one you could always count on and trust him to be there for support and resolution.

Moe is predeceased by his son, Patrick M. Emery; his sisters, Irene Ziemba and Winifred White; and his brother, Gene Emery. Moe is survived by his wife, Dorothea Emery; his daughter, Gail Smith and husband Leon Smith; his daughter, Maurine Emery; his daughter, Karen Emery and wife Robin Karas; his son, John Emery; and his son, Paul Emery and wife Marti Emery. Moe is also survived by his grandchildren, Leon Smith III, Jay Smith, Jonathan Smith, Jillian Sadowski, and Kristin Emery, along with nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A Graveside Service will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 at 10:00AM at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 448 Donald Street, Bedford with St. Francis of Assisi officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life following the service at the residence of Maurice Emery and Dorothea Emery, 83 Springdale Rd., Manchester, NH 03103. Family and friends are invited to attend.
