Loudon Maurice "Moe" McCarthy, passed away on January 23, 2009 at the NH Veterans Home, where he had been a resident for the last 4 years, from a long illness. He was the son of the late Arthur and Eva (Boisvert) McCarthy. He was born in Westford, MA on March 16, 1933. He was drafted in the Navy at the age of 17. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged at the age of 21. He was a rural carrier in Derry, Salem and Windham and retired from the US Postal Service after 27 years. Moe was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Derry VFW, the American Legion and was a life-long member of the Halcyon Club in Derry. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pauline (Ninteau) McCarthy of Loudon; fours sons, Brian of Ashland, NH, Steven of Boston, MA, Kevin of Vermont and Scott of Allenstown, NH; two daughters, Susan Brochu of Belmont and his loving daughter, Sharon Wheeler of Windham, NH; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends including his long-time friend Kathy Paradis. Following cremation, His Committal Service will be held in the Chapel at the NH Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH at 3:00PM on Thursday, January 29, 2009.
