Merlyn "Merl" L. Sutherland

Merlyn “Merl” L. Sutherland of Salisbury, NH, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 7^th, 2022.

Born on November 26^th, 1936, in Garfield, ME. The son of George and Vivian (Graham) Sutherland.

On October 30^th, 1958, Merl married the love of his life Carol A. Hews.

Merl started his career as a mechanic for Hyster until moving to sales for Nitco. He found his quick wit helped him excel until retirement at the spry age of 78.

Merl had many hobbies, however, his favorite had to be snowmobiling, as he was always a thrill seeker. You could always find him spoiling his dog. If he couldn’t be found in the house, he could always be found in the garage tinkering.

He is predeceased by two brothers; Bob and Myron, and two sisters; Faye and Donna. He is also predeceased by his son Gregory.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol. His sons Merlyn Jr. and his wife BJ, and Mark and his wife Becky, as well as his two sisters Joan and Gail, his several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a handful of great great grandchildren.

A memorial gathering honoring Merl's life will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Boscawen, 172 King Street beginning at 10AM, with a memorial service beginning at 11AM. Immediately following services, burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery, Route 4 prior to the intersection with 127, Salisbury, NH.
