Michael J. Clark

Michael J Clark, age 63, passed away July 30, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Michael was born on October 27, 1956 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada and moved to the United States in 1965. He grew up and lived most of his life in Wentworth, NH.

Michael spent most of his employment years in the lumber industry as a sawyer with his most recent employer being King Forest Industries, Inc. where he had well over 25 years of service.

In 1989 Michael obtained his US Citizenship and in 1991 he ran for and was elected the Chief of Police of Wentworth NH, serving the town for several years.
Michael was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He enjoyed playing cards, pool, baseball/softball and golf. He was an avid reader and especially liked Science Fiction and was a huge fan of John Wayne. Michael loved animals, especially dogs and enjoyed restoring his 1978 Chevy Camaro.
In 2019, Michael was diagnosed with Glioblastoma a rare, aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer. He participated in numerous research studies and trials, several that were purely to advance the research. He was further motivated to try and advance the search for a cure by the journeys of two friends, Brianna and George, who also battled the disease. To continue his fight to find a cure Michael donated tissue to research as well as he donated to further the education of medical students.

Michael helped raise funds for the Prouty, an annual athletic event that raises funds to benefit Dartmouth and Dartmouth Hitchcock's Norris Cotton Cancer Center, one of the 51 National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country and the only one in New England. In 2019, Michael walked a 5K for the Prouty just 3 months after having a craniotomy and while undergoing chemotherapy treatment and having just finished 6 weeks of radiation. He walked the entire 5K without assistance, demonstrating his amazing strength.

Michael is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Michelle Clark (Wright), his son Ethan M Clark and his girlfriend Leah Shea, his son Tyler J Clark and his girlfriend Mary Moody, his brothers Richard and Stanley and his sister Norma and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, and his in-laws, Brad and Lorraine Bixby, Harry Wright and Danielle, Taylor and Jackson,… and his 78 Camaro.
