Michael Greene Sr.

Michael Greene, 77, of East Ryegate, Vermont, passed away January 1, 2022 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH after an ephemeral illness. He was born on March 13, 1944 in Worcester, MA, the son of William W. Greene Sr. (father) and Mary (Stefaniak) Greene (mother).

He was the husband of Pauline M. (Begin) Greene. They were married for almost 61 years.

Michael grew up in Douglas, Massachusetts and attended Douglas Memorial School. In his younger years, Michael worked on Parker's Farm in Douglas. He met his beloved wife, Pauline, on the school bus, and they became inseparable sweethearts that expanded for 60+ years of love, laughter, tears, caring and compassion.

Michael's passion was truck driving where he spent most of his life behind the wheel traveling up and down the Northern East Coast. Summertime memories were had by Michael's children where they would join him on truck rides, singing and laughing during their trips. When Michael was not working, he loved spending time with family and friends in his garage in Douglas, where crowds were known to gather on the weekends. He was known to have a bountiful sense of humor. He worked for years at Table Talk Pie in Worcester, MA before starting his own trucking business that he owned for many years.

Michael and Pauline relocated to Vermont where he continued to work until retirement. During his retirement years, he enjoyed working in his garage, re-building John Deere tractors and racecars with his son and grandsons. Michael could be seen puttering around the family home on his tractors and visiting neighborhood friends. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren remember "Honk Honk" as his favorite game to play with them. Michael's greatest enjoyment was his homelife with Pauline and he looked forward to visits from his family and storytelling of days gone by.

Michael was predeceased by, his sister Mary Ann (Greene) Fortier, his brother James Greene, his Daughter-in-law Roberta Dawn (Hughes) Greene and a grandson, Cameron Michael Greene.

He is survived by Pauline Greene (wife) of East Ryegate, VT, Brenda Parker (Daughter) and husband Warren of Lincolnton, NC, Donna Watson (Daughter) and husband Michael of Douglas, MA, Michael Greene Jr. (Son) and wife Lisa Greene of East Ryegate, VT, and Lorie Lusignan (Daughter) and husband Brian of Milford, NH. 11 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren along with, William Greene (Brother) and (wife) Pat of Douglas, MA, Elizabeth “Betty” Sitko (Sister) of North Syracuse, NY, nieces, nephews and cousins

SERVICES: Immediate services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life is planned in the Summer of 2022.
