Michael Allen McCauley, 69, of Lebanon, Maine, passed away on April 6, 2025, in Lebanon.
Born on January 1, 1956, in Melrose, MA, Michael was a proud graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School in Wakefield, Massachusetts. During his time there he excelled in gymnastics. Following his education, he served his country with honor as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for four years at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He earned Sharpshooter Badge and Marksman Badge (pistol),and GCM Medal. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout his life.
After completing his service, Michael dedicated over three decades to the United States Postal Service. His long-standing career reflected his commitment to hard work and reliability—qualities that defined him both professionally and personally.
Michael was above all a devoted family man. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathie McCauley; his daughter Kristine (McCauley) Mayo and her husband David Mayo; and his son Michael McCauley. He took great pride in being a grandfather to Kiana Mayo, Dani McCauley, and Mikey McCauley.
He shared close bonds with his siblings: Charles McCauley and his wife Sally (Confalon) McCauley; Nancy (McCauley)Allocco; Keith McCauley and his wife Cheryl; Richard and his wife Anna; Stanley McCauley and his wife Jackie; Kevin McCauley; and Mary (McCauley) Spadafora and Kevin McCauley.
Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of life—gardening, tackling home improvement projects, and exploring genealogy. Inspired by his Uncle Donald’s passion for family history, Michael spent countless hours tracing roots and preserving stories for future generations. Whether working with soil or tools or diving into ancestral records, he approached every task with care and enthusiasm.
Known for always lending a helping hand, Michael embodied generosity and kindness. His do-it-yourself spirit was matched only by his willingness to support others—whether fixing something around the house or offering guidance when it was needed most.
May Michael’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with dedication, love, and quiet strength.
Michael's Life and Service to his country will be honored on Friday May 2, 2025 at 1:00PM at the Maine State Veteran's Cemetery Springvale, located at 83 Stanley Road, Springvale ME 04083.
