Michael Truax

Michael Darin Truax, 56, passed unexpectedly on December 20, 2023 in Londonderry, NH.

Michael was born in Garden City, Kansas on December 20, 1967.

Patriotic and very proud of his country, Michael served in the U.S. Navy from 1989 to 1998. His first ship was the USS Preble; DDG-46 where he fought in Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. He was a Fire Controlman. Michael then was deployed on the USS Nassau (Top Gator), the LHA-4, in Damneck, VA. Michael was also a U.S. Navy Instructor (RAM System) in Port Hueneme, California.

Michael was the loving husband of Dawn Marie Truax for over 26 years. He met her while in the Navy visiting Boston. He spent many happy years in Kentucky with her and his much-loved husky, Dakota, until they relocated to NH in 2015. Michael worked as Regional Field Service Engineer for Amada America Inc. for 15 years. His job involved installation of machines, as well as problem resolution. He liked the satisfaction of solving the clients’ problems.

Michael loved to travel to the Caribbean. Reminiscent of his Navy days, he loved spending time on the water, especially cruising and exploring new destinations. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, nature, and astronomy.

Survived by his wife, Dawn Marie (Strazzullo) Truax; his son, Nicholas Ray Truax of Coronado, California; daughter-in-law, Emilia Truax; and grandson, Nico. His son, Nicholas, has followed in his father’s footsteps and is currently serving in the US Navy. Nicholas is a Master at Arms (MA1) Petty Officer First Class.
