Mildred Marie Ruoff

Mildred M. Ruoff, 85, of Nashua, NH died at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH on Thursday September 13, 2007 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mrs. Ruoff was born in New York City on November 13, 1921, the daughter of Axel and Lorenza (Thronsen) Nelson. She and her family then moved to Smithtown, Long Island where she grew up, attended schools and graduated from Smithtown High School. Mrs. Ruoff and her family owned and operated a restaurant in Smithtown for years. In 1975, she and her husband moved to Nashua, NH. Her husband passed away in 1976. She worked as a hostess for local restaurants until 1980 when she was employed at Digital Equipment Corp. She worked there for 15 years and retired in 1995. Mrs. Ruoff loved to travel and to entertain in and away from her home. She loved flowers and spent many hours in her garden. She loved to cook and take care of her home Which she shared with her loving partner Vern Gabel of Nashua, NH for 20 years. Survivors include her significant other, Vern Gabel, her son Andrew and his wife Linda of Weare, NH, her daughter Linda and her husband Michael Thole of Sunset Beach, NC, 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
