Hamilton, Milton R. "Mit" "Milt" – of Pepperell, MA formerly of Plainfield, NH died on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Milton was born on December 8, 1923 in Pepperell, MA and was the son of the late Bernard Lee Hamilton, Mabel Young Hamilton, and Ann Straitiff Hamilton. He was the beloved husband for 55 years to the late Mary Starkie Hamilton. Devoted father of Jane Hamilton-Balboni of Westwood, MA, Lisa Hamilton-Goscombe of Pepperell, MA, and James E. Hamilton of Francestown, NH. Dear brother of Doris Kemp, Bernard Hamilton, the late William Hamilton, and Charles Hamilton. Milton is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Christopher, Jonathon, and Meredith Balboni and Daniel and Mitchell Goscombe. He also leaves behind son-in-laws, Christopher Balboni and Roger Goscombe and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. During World War II he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with Carrier Air Group 14 aboard the USS Intrepid. Ltjg Hamilton was a Naval Aviator. He was a graduate of Boston University, with a B.S. degree in Business, class of 1950. In 1989 Milton retired from Dartmouth College and was awarded the title of Director of Purchasing and Services Emeritus for his many years of dedicated service. Prior to his position at Dartmouth College Milt was the Director of Auxiliary Services at Boston University and held management positions at the Raytheon Company. He was an avid tennis player in his earlier years and later truly enjoyed a good game of golf. In 1991 Milton and his wife Mary returned to their native Pepperell in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his family, friends, and his church, the Community Church of Pepperell. A Memorial Service will take place at the Park Street Cemetery on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or a charity of your choice.
