MJ Westervelt-Smith

MJ Westervelt-Smith passed away after a brief illness in Salem, New Hampshire, where she lived with Robert Watson (Bob) Smith, her husband of nearly 75 years.
A lover of nature and her beloved pets, MJ also enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to Frank Sinatra and working with young students..
MJ (previously "Mary Jean") was born in Summit, New Jersey. She and Bob married and had 3 children they raised in Randolph, New Jersey. The family relocated to the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and thru the years resided in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, Lake Fairlee, Vermont and back to West Lebanon. She was the School Librarian for the Elementary Schools in West Lebanon until her retirement.
MJ is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Lauren Dale Llorente and her husband, Armando Llorente (of Atkinson, NH.); daughter-in-law, Linda Spooner Smith (of North Haverhill, NH); and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by daughter, Kim Adair Dehlin, and son, Mark W. Smith.
The family will have a private "Celebration of Life" event for MJ at a later date. Memorial contributions for MJ can be made to the Upper Valley Humane Society in Enfield, New Hampshire (https://uvhs.org) or the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee (www.elephants.com.)
