Muriel Anne Batchelder, 85, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Manchester on November 6, 2018. Born in Manchester on July 29, 1933, she was the daughter of Harold and Martha (Kaps) Batchelder.
Muriel was graduated from Central High, and retained fond memories of those years. During that time she held various part-time jobs, including as a children's ballet instructor, and her love for ballet continued throughout her life. After graduating she began work at the Manchester Housing Authority. When her second child was born she stayed home to raise her family, and re-entered the workforce when the kids were grown, ultimately finding her way back to government service at the Southern NH Planning Commission, from which she retired.
She leaves behind a daughter, Elizabeth Gazda, of Manchester; a son, Walter Gazda and his wife Sari, of Newton, MA; and her grandchildren. Muriel was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Bean.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) at www.doctorswithoutborders.org are welcomed.
