Muriel Ruth (Bartlett) Hirsch

November 1923 – June 2022

Daughter of the late Anna Helena and George H. Bartlett of Haverhill, MA

Wife of the late William R. Hirsch, who together were residents of Atkinson, NH for 66 years.

Mother of the late Donna K. (Hirsch) DeFeo and survived by son-in-law John J. DeFeo

Survived by her granddaughter, Jessica Vandewater, grandson, Dane Vandewater, his wife Cheryl and her two great grandsons.

Muriel was employed at the Haverhill Electric Company, the Atkinson Town Clerks Office and the Kimball Public Library in Atkinson, NH. She was a long-time member of the local Fireman’s Auxiliary.

In her youth, playing on her uncles’ farm, Muriel dreamed of being an actress and participated in school and youth group theater or musicals. She loved singing and dancing with her husband to Big Band Swing music. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed her retirement baking, sewing, knitting and braiding rugs. She was a lifelong devote Christian Scientist and member of the Mother Church of Christian Science in Boston, MA.

Her gentle soul and memories of her endless kindness will forever live in the hearts of those who know and love her.

She will be laid to eternal rest beside her husband and daughter in a private ceremony later this year.
