Murray B. Riddick

Murray Bennett Riddick, 86, died peacefully on January 13, 2007, at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association’s Hospice House in Concord.

Born in Lowell, MA on November 19, 1920, he was the son of Nellie (Gooch) and Herbert Riddick, and the husband of 60 years to the late Julia B. Riddick. Murray was a 1939 graduate of Lowell High School. He served in the United States Army in WWII under General MacArthur in the Philippines. He lived most of his life in Lowell, MA and worked as a milkman for Suburban and Lowell Dairy. He later worked for Billerica High School as a custodian until his retirement. Shortly after, Murray and his wife moved to Epsom, NH to be near family. He worked for a short while at Epsom Central and Chichester Central Schools.

Murray was known fondly to all as “Papa”. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his five great-grandsons, who will all miss him dearly. He enjoyed gardening, spending summer days on Cape Cod at Popponnessett Beach and at camp in East Orange, Vermont. He also enjoyed spending time with his constant companion “ Mickey.”

Murray is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judith (Riddick) and James Walsh of Epsom; three granddaughters, Shannon LeBlanc of Hooksett, Meghan Woodbury of Henniker, and Erin Walsh of Gilmanton; five great-grandsons, Reilly, Taylor, and Brady Woodbury, and Colin and Nicholas LeBlanc. He is predeceased by his wife and parents; his brothers Albert Riddick and Raymond Riddick; his sisters, Dorothy Cox, Eleanor Neild, and a twin sister Marion Riddick.

There will be a Memorial Reception on Friday, January 19th from 9:00 until 10:00 with a Memorial Service at 10 o’clock at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. Burial will follow at noon in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
