Nancy C. Ayres

Nancy Carol (Vickery) Ayres, age 86, died on November 19, 2024, peacefully at home in Alexandria, NH. Born on August 29, 1938, in New Bedford, MA, the daughter of LaForrest Vickery and Alice Winters. She was the wife of William Joseph Ayres. They were married on October 3, 1956. They went on to have four wonderful children. The family moved to Alexandria, NH in 1980 where Nancy and William worked at Freudenberg N.O.K.. On top of working third shift, Nancy was still a devoted mother and wife to her family.

During Nancy’s retirement her and William traveled all over the country attempting to see all 50 states only missing Hawaii, taking cruises, and spending time with family. Nancy not only was a devoted wife and mother, but a grandmother as well. Whatever her grandchildren wanted to do, Nancy was right alongside them, making every moment special.

Nancy cherished the holidays, as they brought the entire family together, and she always prepared for them with love. Whether it was a family gathering, a birthday dinner, or a cookout, Nancy would cook for an army. She made sure no one ever left hungry and welcomed her grandchildren’s friends with open arms, ensuring there was always enough food for everyone.

Nancy was constantly making sure those around her were taken care of, she was a true treasure to be around. She was undoubtedly one the most kindhearted, caring, and selfless people you’d meet. She was the glue that held her family together and she will be missed dearly.

Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Richard Vickery and beloved husband, William Joseph Ayres. She is survived by her four children, Betty Ayres (Laconia, NH), William F. Ayres (Alexandria, NH), Kevin Ayres (New Hampton, NH), and Christine Robie (Alexandria, NH). Nancy was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren, RJ (Katie) Robie, Jayme Ayres, Chelsea Richford (Ethan Lane), and Ryein Ayres. As well as a wonderful great grandmother to Aleigha and Joseph.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 11, 2025, at Old Alexandria Town Hall, from 2:00PM-5:00PM.
